I started blogging March 2018. I have had the idea before and am now in a place to make it happen. I have read over 100 articles on how to blog. I have an entire board on Pinterest on the topic. And yet, I feel SO clueless. I keep trying to tell myself to be patient and it will work out in the end.
I chose to start with posts on the signs of the zodiac so I could learn how WordPress and blogging works. I thought it would be a good way to get my feet wet.
It is not my intention for this post to sound whiny, but I fear it will.
At what point do you feel like you’re making it as a blogger? Is it lots on content? Lots of views? Lots of email subscribers or Facebook followers? I feel so lost in it all. I have no answer for you yet for these questions. Maybe some of you do? Please comment below so I don’t feel so alone in this.
What does it mean for a blogger to “find their voice”? My posts so far seem informational only. By choice, I admit because I wanted to play it safe while I explore the ins and outs. What about free prose? What about posts like this one that are simply my thoughts spewed out into the world via keyboard? Do these type of posts have a place in the world? Do I really have to find one niche? Can’t I have a blog that talks about everything I talk about on a daily basis?
I feel like it would be selling out to put ads on my blog. (No offense to those who do. We all gotta make a buck, right?) I just don’t see how my blog can house ads. Is an opinion/lifestyle blog supposed to find a way to monetize?
So I am scared to death to publish this but I’m going to anyway. I don’t care if this meets the “typical” blog format. This is my blog and it will have my thoughts and feelings at it’s core. If there is anything you take away from this it’s this:
Do what you want now not later. A great friend once told me, If not now then when? You can do anything you want. It just takes a little bravery to take the step and not fear what is on the other side.
I am not a millionaire (yet). I haven’t made a dime blogging (yet). But I’m here and I’m doing it. Here’s to all the other bloggers who have come before me, to the bloggers in the same stage as me, and to all the bloggers yet to come. YOU CAN DO THIS! YOU GOT THIS! And with that… here I go.
